Prayer BANNED for Public Talks in KH's...
by The Fall Guy in........back in 1949!.
w50 3/15 p. 96 letters - "jesus held many public lectures, but there is no record that he opened or closed any of them with prayer....surely those of the public who are not of the christian faith do not turn out to our meetings in order to join with us in prayer to our god, but solely to hear the speech which is the drawing feature.
so we give them that and do not think to impose upon them by attaching something else to the lecture which might offend or stumble them before they hear the speech they came for.

Makes sense, if you're really, truly welcoming the public to an open forum. These days, the Sunday lectures are really nothing more than talks pitched to the initiated, laced with theocratic jargon that will have the non-JW scratching his/her head. -

26 Years Later
by Victor ini'm one of earliest adopters of the internet in discovering the real history of the watchtower.
back then it was the wild wild west with newsgroups being the primary sources of information.
then came watchtower observer, freeminds, and all the other sites that followed jwd was one of the later sites.

I recall Ron Frye, a former circuit overseer from Minnesota, who did some early, excellent work on rebuttals of WT doctrine with his "Christian Respondent" newsletter, I often wonder how he's doing.

Are the G.B.members really good business people ?
by smiddy3 inif i was an author of a book i think i would be over the moon if i was guaranteed a sale of around 5 million or more books for my work.. the jehovah`s witnesses have over 8 million members plus relatives that are fringe dwellers who come to the memorial once a year ,.
so what a gold mine they have been sitting on as a publishing house .. why didn`t they keep publishing books for the faithful ,they could have even upped the price , and the faithful would have paid especially in prosperous country`s in the west.. they could have milked this venture for years to come as the faithful would have bought anything they would have published .. and their prophets (profits) would have soared ,literally and figuratively for many more years to come ..

To say they're incompetent is an understatement. Based on what we see on JW broadcasting, they don't exactly inspire confidence; more like a bunch of geriatrics bumping into the furniture when the lights go out.
Keystone Kops, pushing Kingdom Hall construction three years ago only to abruptly reverse course by 180 degrees. When they fritter away their one-off windfall from the sales of their Brooklyn properties, watch out below!
If they were trustees of any investment of mine, I'd be SELLING...

Many Jehovah's Witness Leaders and Followers Customize Their Religion to Suit Their Needs
by new boy inafter observing my jehovah's witness friends and family members for over 50 years it became apparent that the vast majority of "the brothers and sisters" pick and choose the rules and laws that their church/organization what them to follow.. tough the society may state these admonitions as definite "do's and don'ts" many of the church followers put these admonitions in the the "grey zone.".
the reason being jehovah will give them special dispensation.
yes, for some odd reason jehovah will cut these people some slack for the same things he must punish others for.

As just one example, it's interesting to note how so many parents hereabouts rationalize sending their kids to college.

What would make an Ex-Jw go back to been a full in Baptized JW
by LOLS ini was just wondering , why would my jw husband return to been a full blown baptized jw after 20 years of fading?.
he has spent 20 years of his life been a worldly person , with a worldly wife & kids & worldly friends .... to joining the borg full time , to getting baptized , to getting new brothers & sisters .... and to writing off most of his worldly friends (some his known his whole life ) , to trying to convince me & our children how wonderful this org is ......and anyone else who will listen :(.
has anyone ever experienced this ...... oh and he seems to be in it 110% and no-one can say anything about this crazy org or show him proof that it all bs...... his such a clever independent , successful guy , why on earth would he go back to this , after been out for so many years & change into this domineering , opinionated fool ..... oh and his entire family also went back ... father , mother , brother & sister .

The clown factory at Warwick
by Sour Grapes init just amazes me how the clown factory at the borgs basilica in warwick could produce 8 clown popes that act like self-licking ice cream cones and the jdubs take them so seriously.
if the popes said that they were going to have a bible signing session at a king dumb hall 8 hours away that so many jdubs would make the trip the town would be swamped with traffic.. you know what is truly sad is when during jdub public prayers, the governing body gets more praise than the head of the congregation.
all jesus gets is the final "in jesus name.".

The Biggest Issue Is Not Guns—It Is Mental Health!

take away guns and they will find knives, poison, bombs , etc.. seriously, there are a lot of mentally unhealthy people!

There's no place - NO GODDAMN PLACE - for assault weapons in civilized society. Until people are so shocked that they voluntarily give up their right to have guns so that others have the right to live, this will not change. That may never happen, but that's what needs to.
How long can any given individual say "the right to own a gun is more important than X number of lives taken with the use of a gun"? What is that X for each person? For a gun control advocate, that number may be 0. For a gun rights advocate, that number may be a million, half the population of the country, all of the population of the country? Right now, the number of lives taken is obviously not enough for gun owners to voluntarily give up their guns. I don't think gun control alone is the answer. I'm just saying if that's what's desired, then the public has to be willing to give it up. All of it. Like other civilised countries have done.
